At its 2016 Intel Developer Forum in San Francisco, the company unveiled its all-in-one VR headset called Project Alloy. The new gadget is dubbed to be a rival for the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.
Project Alloy uses Intels RealSense technology, which includes cameras that measure relative depth, position, and orientation. Тheyre located on the headset and allow for "room-to-room" tracking, letting you move around your environment.
Intel revealed it is in continuous collaboration with Microsoft to optimize Windows-based content on the Alloy and other Intel-based VR gadgets.
The Alloy will serve as a platform to third-party companies to make their own all-in-one VR headsets. Intel pledged to open the VR headsets hardware, APIs and other necessary tools to developers and partners in 2017.
