The original Samsung Galaxy Note that started it all was released in the the fall of 2011, the same year the Galaxy S II came to life. Ever since, Samsungs phablet lineup has been trailing its regular-sized flagship brethren in numbering, but thats about to change this year.
The Galaxy Note7 will succeed the Note5 and now Notes and Ss will walk hand in hand. The rumor about Samsungs marketing move started floating around almost precisely a month ago, and the naming change has now been (sort of) confirmed by popular leakster Evan Blass (@evleaks).

Sure, that image is a lot easier to fabricate than a paper airplane that actually flies well, but we gather theres some insider in formation behind it. Either way the smartphone is expected to arrive on August 2, putting an end to speculations on naming, screen types, iris recognition, and whatnot.
